OK, so just about everyone knows that PB is not allowing 3rd party hosting. So far PB hasn't stopped me from doing 3rd part hosting. Before they do put up that ugly no 3rd party sign, I am trying to go back and put my images up at another site. I the community images(not my images) for [community profile] seasonal_spuffy switched over to my lj scrapbook but for the long run what image hosting site is good?

I have an Imgur account but didn't know how to navigate it so I haven't used it, yet. So is Imgur any good for 3rd party hosting? If not what would you recommend?

The rest this way

As of this post, I have tried on all of my samples. I am still haven't chosen a new scent.

While browsing the internet I found out that Bvlgari has two new rose perfumes; Rose Goldea and Splendia Rose (which is probably why they discontinued rose essentielle). Since both perfumes are rather new Splendia Rose was released this month and Rose Goldea was released in early 2016, I couldn't find any samples on line. So instead of ordering samples, I did it the "old fashioned" way. I hopped in my car and went to Lord and Taylor to get spritzed. So below are my findings on the two new Bvlgari perfumes and the other two perfumes I haven't reviewed yet.

Disclaimer - I am writing these post mostly for me but if they interest anyone else, that's gravy.

10. Kenzo – Flower- FRAGRANCE NOTES violet, rose, vanilla, musk, opoponax, incense, hawthorn, black currant, jasmine, orange. First on I liked it but I got pepper notes, even though there was no pepper in the fragrance description. I liked the dry down even more. It has a sweet, powdery scent with strong under tones of flowers and vanilla it’s very sweet, maybe too sweet. A lovely scent but a little on the strong side.

11. Stella McCartney - Stella FRAGRANCE NOTES rose, peony, mandarin, amber, woods- First on you get the amber, mandarin and woods notes but on dry down you get the flower notes. This is a very nice sent not too flowery and not too heavy on the woodsy notes.

12. Bvlgari-Rose Goldea  FRAGRANCE NOTES: Pomegranate, Damascus rose, jasmine, musk, sandalwood and olibanum. First on I got musk pomegranate. On dry down I got more of the floral notes. This perfume reminds me very much of Philosophy - Amazing Grace but more sophisticated (and more expensive). I don't judge perfumes by their bottle but this perfume has a gorgeous bottle,
which is fitting for this lovely, that is defiantly in the running.

13. Bvlgari Splendida Rose Rose FRAGRANCE NOTES: mandarin orange, blackberry, damask rose, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver and musk. First on you get strong blackberry notes on dry down you get more of the rose notes. This is not the same as rose essentielle but they have a similar scent because they have many notes in common the only difference being this perfume is much stronger and gave me a headache. It didn’t help matters that I had a slight headache before I tried the perfume and I tried two samples at once. I will have to try it again when I don’t have the beginnings of a headache and when I don't have another sample on my other arm. Especially since it’s pretty close to rose essentielle, it's even in the same type bottle.

I'm going to take a break from trying perfumes and use some of the rose essentielle I still have left. I will at some point, revisit my top three; Bvlgari-Rose Goldea, Bvlgari-Splendida Rose Rose and Stella by Stella McCartney . I'll keep you posted on any updates to my search.

I am writing these post mostly for me but if they interest anyone else, that's gravy. Here are some of the other sample I've tried. (This list is continued from my last post.)

7. Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Rosa Pop FRAGRANCE NOTES: violet, rose, red berries, peony, lemon, woodsy notes. ~ Out of all the samples I have tried, there weren't any that I could truly say was yucky… until now. Now this could just be what this perfume does on my skin, but first on it kind of smelled like play-dough. On dry down it was better but there was still and note I didn’t like in the mix (lemon maybe?). This sample was an eau de toilette, so and actual perfume would be even stronger. Needless to say this isn't a perfume that will be in the running for a signature scent.

8. Victor and Rolff- Flower Bomb FRAGRANCE NOTES: patchouli, orchid, tea, rose, musk, jasmine, bergamot, freesia, orange blossom, and osmanthus. ~ It starts off with a sweet almost candy like smell, on dry down the scent takes on a more a flowery smell. Each time I took a sniff of my arm I would get a different note. I was reluctant, yet excited to try this perfume because while, I have heard lots of good things about this perfume, I know it’s a very expensive perfume. Now, that I have tried it, I can see why this perfume is so popular, it has a mysterious air about it. It’s a nice scent but it’s not really my cup of tea.

9. Philosophy - Amazing Grace FRAGRANCE NOTES: freesia, musk, jasmine, rose, bergamot, orange, grapefruit. First on. you got the smell of jasmine and freesia on dry down it you get more of the other notes. The mix of the different notes makes for a very light clean smell. This sample was an eau de toilette, which probably is one of the reasons it is such a light scent. Where Victor and Rolff- Flower Bomb is probably the most expensive perfume on my list. Philosophy - Amazing Grace is probably the most inexpensive perfume on my list but that doesn't change the fact that this is a lovely perfume and would make a nice scent for summer use or a signature scent.

Out of the above three perfumes, the only samples I am keeping to try again is Philosophy - Amazing Grace .

I am writing these post for mostly for me but if they interest anyone else, that gravy. Here are some of the other sample I've tried. (This list is continued from my last post.)

4. Christian Dior - Miss Dior- Absolutely Blooming FRAGRANCE- raspberry, black currant, pomegranate, rose, musk, peony, pink pepper.--This was a very heavy scent and totally different than Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet (which I liked). I had a hard time defining the different notes because none of them seem to stand out. The scent reminded me of old time perfumes, like Channel No.5, Shalimar and Emeraude. When people say a scent smells like an “old lady” they usually mean it’s too sweet and flowery smelling but to me an “old lady” scent is more of an old time perfume smell, like this.

5. Christian Dior - J`adore FRAGRANCE NOTES jasmine, pear, tuberose, melon, peach, magnolia, lily of the valley, rose, freesia, musk, plum, orange, orchid, vanilla, blackberry, violet, bergamot, cedar --- Frist on very heavy scent w/ heavy lilies of the valley and freesia on dry down (about 45 mins) it evens out to a much softer scent. Even though I liked the dry down, I really don’t like the smell when it first goes on and (for me) I want to like a scent first on.

6. Givenchy - Very Irrésistible L’eau en Rose FRAGRANCE NOTES- rose, musk, blackberry –-- First on very light and powdery smelling. After dry down more flowery and sweet with powdery undertones. This scent was very strong smelling despite the fact that it was an eau de toilette. A very, very pretty scent.

Out of the above three samples the only one I'm going to keep and try again is Givenchy-Very Irrésistible L’eau en Rose.

I have tried all of the samples I got and have ordered a few more. I'm not going to overwhelm my flist with a huge info dump about the perfumes I've tried but I will do three at a time.

1. Dior- Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet - FRAGRANCE NOTES peony, rose, orange, peach, musk -- The sample was an eau de toilette, so it wasn't too heavy. When first put on it had a clean soap like smell. On dry down it still had the clean soap like smell but with under tones of flowers. If you like a clean soapy scent than this a must try for you.

2. Jimmy Choo- Blossom FRAGRANCE NOTES raspberry, citruses, rose, red berries, sweet pea, musk, sandalwood. -- First on it was very heavy with grapefruit, but that quickly dies down and you get a sweet flowery smell with under notes of grapefruit. I thought was too sweet and too flowery smelling. It is a nice scent but not in the running for my signature scent.

3. Nina Ricci - L'Extase - FRAGRANCE NOTES- rose, benzoin, pink pepper, amber, white flowers, musk, caramel, raspberry, cedar, vanilla, patchouli, peach, jasmine, pear. -- First on, I got strong caramel smell, on dry down you still got the caramel but the flower notes were stronger. A nice smell reminded me of viva la juicy, which is also a nice smell but too young for me. L’Extase was a more mature scent than Viva la juicy. The caramel gives it a young fun vibe and that’s not what I am looking for in a signature scent. If you like viva la juicy you might like this scent.([personal profile] sandy_s)

Out of the above three samples the only one I'm going to keep and try again is Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet. (I also got a sample for Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming, which I will review next time.)

Mother's day weekend was lovely. We spent a good part of Friday visiting my son, DIL and the grand baby. After the visit we drove to Atlantic City, had a lovely dinner, spent the night, then met sis #3 and BIL for breakfast. Traffic home was horrible, due to several accidents and rain.

Youngest son was working mother's day, so he met us and the house and ordered take out for us. Yesterday was a quite day with take out again for dinner, this time sushi. We tried a different place and it is now my favorite place for sushi. We tried their tuna sushi pizza, it was fabulous! It was a nice week end with family and too much food.

The answer to my question 9 bands/acts I've seen and the one I haven't is.....Billy Joel. Billy Joel grew up (and now lives) not too far from where I live. He plays this area often but unfortunately I have never seen him.

This probably going to be long and rambling, so feel free to skip if perfume isn't your thing.

Back story - My mom's favorite perfume (her signature scent) was Guerlain by Shalimar she love, love, loved it and wore it all the time. When my mom passed there was a bottle of Shalimar on her dresser. Sister #2, loves perfume and took the bottle. I was shocked! I associated the scent, so strongly with my mom, that I could never even think about wearing it. My sis took comfort in the scent. *shrugs*

More back story - About a year after my mom passed, [profile] beanbeans started doing posts about her love for, and adventures in, trying different perfumes. Her posts intrigued me and I decided I wanted a scent that would be closely associated with me, just like I closely associated Shalimar with my mom.

The above two events started me on my quest for a signature scent. I roamed sites like Fragrantica reading all about different scents. (At the time there were no perfume subscription sites.) I would make lists of perfumes I wanted to try and and make notes on what I thought of them. I go to Macy's armed with a baggie of ground coffee and my lists. (To cleanse your nose palette, you should take a whiff of coffee beans between perfumes.) I rather quickly found out that I liked a softer, flowery perfumes (heavy scents give me a headache.) I also found out that I prefer a scent that has some rose notes but not too heavy with the rose notes.

My searching was brought to a halt, about a year later, (2011) when I tried Bvlgari Rose Essentielle. I love the scent, smelling it always puts a smile on my face and it became my signature scent.

Last year Bvlgari discontinued Rose Essentielle. I have stocked up on several bottles and I hope to get a bottle or two more but now I have to start a new search for a new signature scent.

After I found Rose Essentielle I saw this vid and I was curious about Stella by Stella McCartney but at that time, I was finished searching and never tried the perfume. Now that I am again looking for a new scent, Stella was at the to of my list.

You would think looking for a new scent would be easier in this day and age of perfume subscriptions...NO!!!! Most of the scent subscriptions, pick random samples to send you each month. Other subscriptions companies let you pick a scent or two, to try each month but the choices are limited. Luckily, I found My perfume samples AND.... Stella by Stella McCartney was available to purchase as a sample!!

Last week I purchased 6 samples and they came yesterday. So far, I have only tried Stella and I like it....a lot!! It is now on the top of my list for a new signature scent but the search is still ongoing.

I will try to update my lj with all my adventures in testing perfumes.

If you have any must try reccos, please let me know in the comments.

I hope I didn't bore you guys too much with my perfume talk.

Today hubby and went to visit son, DIL and the grand baby. It was the first time I was healthy enough to visit the baby and the very pregnant DIL. If I passed on my creepy, crawly, crud sickness to them, I would have been so upset.

When we got there, my son was outside with the baby and the four of us walked around the corner to a huge mud puddle, where two duck have decided to make their home. My son tells me the neighborhood is all a buzz with this development.

Below find two pictures. The first one is the ducks in the mud puddle. The second one is from our January trip to Florida. In Fort Pierce there is a place on the pier, to buy fish food and you can feed the fish off the pier. The catfish go nuts for the food (as you can see from the picture)

Just a quick drive by to say, I got a call for the MD, the biopsy came back benign. Yay!

Thanks for all the good thoughts, positive vibes and prayers sent my way.
teragramm: (Default)
I just heard from the place that I dropped my mammogram and sonogram info off yesterday. Their MD agrees that I need the biopsy. They called with a list of questions and it looks like the earliest I can have the biopsy is Tuesday because I have to stop taking, for 5 days before the biopsy, an herb (fenugreek) that I take daily. I wish I knew that before I took todays pills.

That phone call was a load off my mind, now I just have to worry about the actual procedure.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and encouragement.

So, when the MD called on Friday he told me I would get a call on Monday and the biopsy would be this week. He added that if I didn't hear anything by Wednesday, I should call the office. Today I called the office and spoke to the woman who was supposed to set up the biopsy. She calls me back and tells me since I am having the biopsy outside the system, they want a copy of my mammogram and sonogram before they will set up the appointment. This AM, hubby and I picked up my disks and the referral and brought them to the place the biopsy is going to take place. I should hear back by Friday or Monday. I guess the biopsy isn't happening this week.

Since there was an initial mix up with the reading of the sonogram I'm a little concerned. *fingers crossed*

How was everyone's Easter? I hope it was a good one.

Not a ton of posts but plenty of comments!

First off, I have to say I'm sick and tired of making woe is me posts, but here goes another one. Remember back in the beginning of March when I made this post about my breast sonogram. Remember how excited I was that I didn't need a biopsy? Well it seems my excitement was premature. It seems I misread the note sent to me. My MD called today and said that it wasn't clear to him either, so he called to find out their findings. It seems one of the lumps needs to be checked via sonogram in 6 months and one of the lumps needs a biopsy. So they are going to make me an appointment for next week.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

On the good news front, it looks like I avoided getting the flu!

I don't read the Angel Comics but I noticed that Faith was dropped from the title. What happened?
