First off I want to thank everyone on the get well wishes and I am feeling a bit better. It turns out I have an upper respiratory infection and the MD put me on a nose spray, antibiotics and a cough syrup. Unfortunately they no longer make the cough syrup any more and since I went to a walk in MD and not my GP they are having a hard time changing the meds, plus both my GP and the walk in MD are Jewish, so it will be extra hard to get in touch with either of them. The good news is the antibiotics seem to be working, I'm weak as kitten but feeling better. The bad news is my daughter has the flu. I'm hoping that I don't get the flu on top of the bug I have now. I shudder to think how sick I will be if on top this bug I get the flu too.

I hope all on my flist are keeping healthy.

Last post I was congratulating myself for getting over my cold. It was gone for a total of 5 day and came back with a vengeance. So, if I'm not around much to make comments, you know it's because I'm babying myself in hopes I'll be better for Easter.

I hope all on my flist are doing well and are healthy.

Just to give you a smile.

teragramm: (snow sucks)
It's snowing! We are expected to get blizzard conditions for today. Yesterday the weather service was saying 24-26 inches. Today they lowered that to 8-16 inches. We shall see. Yesterday we stocked up on food and floor repair material.

I have been working on the basement, we have just about finished painting and are up to the flooring. The old tiles have been ripped up and now I am repairing the cement flooring to make sure it is hole free and semi level. I figured this is a good project to do while shut in watching it snow.

I hope all on my flist stay warm and dry.

There have been so many articles and posts about Buffy and this AM I saw this article. with an interview with 13 members of Buffy's cast/writing/directing team.

I was struck by this quote by Amber Benson
Buffy was an everywoman. She made you think that if she could do all this then so could you.

This was incredibly true for me. When was a time that you thought WWBD? (what would Buffy do?) And you were encouraged to something because of Buffy? How did Buffy change your life? I'm going to share my story and I encourage you to share yours in the comments.

Growing up I was always introverted and shy. As an adult I pretty much grew out of the shyness but I but I still had some lingering introverted traits. One of those traits was that I hated confrontation, and when I did have a confrontation I avoided the person for a good long while. When I saw "Hell's Bells" and the scene where Buffy sees Spike in the hallway, you see she is nervous about talking to him after, the break up. In the scene she swallows, clenches her fist and goes over to say hello. That scene meant a lot to me and I pretty much stopped avoiding people after confrontations after that. I know this sounds silly that a TV show character made me change, but she did. I would never feel comfortable saying this anywhere but here and this being the 20th anniversary I had to share.

Aside from the above story Buffy changed my life by bring me to lj and for that (and the above story) I will be forever grateful.

If you feel comfortable, share a story about how Buffy changed your life.

I had a mammogram on February 13th and as usual, I got an email that says there was something on the mammogram they didn't like, so I should schedule another mammogram on the right breast. After that, I got another email saying I should schedule a sonogram.

Now, I've been thorough this before, several times, (usually on the left breast) so I know the drill. (mammogram, mammogram, sonogram, biopsy) I am usually calm throughout this process because this isn't my first rodeo but this time I was a tad nervous because it was a different breast. I was fully prepared to be told I needed a biopsy but instead I got an email today that says to come back in 6 months for another sonogram. Yay!! What a relief!!

I think it's rather ironic that I got this news on Woman's day.

I hope this year is a good one for everybody!

On Saturday, Hubby and I drove 150 miles to Albany, to meet up with my sibs. We spent the morning at the NYS museum and then had a nice lunch in a local neighborhood place. Except for the actual travel, it was a lovely day. We came home, in time to spend a quite New Years Eve at home. Of course, I fell asleep at 9:30, woke up in time to see the ball drop, wish hubby a happy new year and go back to sleep. Since I hate new years eve, this one was right up my alley. ~_^

Happy 2017!!!!

I have been thinking about this lj/Russian server thing and have come to the conclusion that I'm going to stay on lj. I've had a lj for 13 years and this isn't the first time there has been a mass exodus. I'm going to be prepared for what ever happens but I'm not fleeing, just yet. I'm not gong to cross post but I will copy and paste my lj entries into DW. I am more familiar with lj and I am not ready to start my posts on DW, just yet. I have already exported my lj to DW and I have also exported my icon journal, [livejournal.com profile] teragramm_icons, to DW under the same name.

So it's all good.

Christmas was very nice, quite but nice. Oldest son, DIL and grandbaby spent Christmas in Chicago. So we has a small celebration the week before Christmas. Of course, the grandbaby enjoyed all the wrapping paper. In fact, she found the paper recycle bin and had a blast. While they are in Chicago, we are watching their sweet poochie, Roy.

We went to mass on Christmas Eve, so Christmas day we slept late, opened presents and had a late breakfast. We lounged around most of the day until our yummy dinner of herb crusted beef tenderloin roast. I got to speak to all of my sib for christmas and got a video chat with my son, DIL, the baby and DIL's family. It was a nice quite Christmas with family.

Unfortunately, I woke up on on Christmas morning to a computer that wouldn't turn on but youngest son figured out the problem and it was up and running in no time. So, I got to see all the lovely lj posts wishing everyone a happy holiday. It's been a long time since my flist has bee so active on a holiday. (Thank you expanded flist.)

On Monday we had our next door neighbors over. We have been living next to each other for over 30 years. We get along great, but rarely hang out together and it was a nice extension of the holiday.

The news of Carrie Fisher, was followed this AM by the new that a long time friend had passed. Our families were closer, when we were active in the local theater group, but I am still heartbroken that this gentle lady has passed. She had been sick for a while and I am glad she is now at peace. That is now seven friends, all around my age, who have lost a spouse. So sad, and scary.

To this day is one of the sibs asks who is going to do some chore, one of us will be sure to say "you have to do it for asking." When she came to my house, my kids had just finished breakfast and I just finished cleaned up (or at least I thought I had).
