Day 30 -- whatever tickles your fancy

For my last "tickles your fancy" I'm going to do some shameless self promotion. Below the cut isn't the first banner I ever made but it is the first banner, I made that I was pleased with the out come. It's a spuffy version of "When Harry met Sally" movie poster done in 2009 for [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy.

Day 27 -- this month, in great detail

Since today is the 11th and yesterday I posted my week in great detail, it would be redundant to do my month in great detail. So instead I will do another "whatever tickles your fancy". (I'm rather enjoying those random nuggets.)

I'm enjoying this round of [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy a lot! I know in the past, a lot more people participated but there still was a decent turn out this round. Sometimes it can feel like fandom is, I don't want to say dead because I truly believe it isn't dead, just sleeping soundly. Communities like [livejournal.com profile] noel_of_spike and [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy give fandom a needed shot of caffeine and I for one are very grateful.

Day 24 -- whatever tickles your fancy
Did you know Overstock.com sold Estate Jewelry? I find the pieces over priced but totally fascinating. I keep asking myself who would wear such large. gaudy jewelry? Not all the pieces are gaudy (bordering on ugly) but there are some pieces that just make you shake your head.

Day 22 -- a website I had a hard time picking just one, so I have four websites:

1.) A Manual Library - if you lose the manual for anything you can find it here

2.) This to That- a website that tells you how to glue anything to anything else, it can be found here

3.) The Frugal Girl Blog - she give tons of tutorials, including a how to paint furniture tutorials, that I have used many times. It can be found here.

4.) I think a lot people already know about this one. A Sporcle Quiz that tests you on all the Episodes of BtVS. It can be found here
It's a lot harder than it sounds. Especially since, if you are like me, you think you know the titles of the episodes but you really don't. Hints --- #1 You don't need to use the word "the", your answer will be accepted if you just put down "harvest" instead of "the harvest." Hint #2 - It's Graduation Day not Graduation. ~_^

Day 20 -- a hobby of yours I collect teapots and have since I was 17. I’ve told this story before but here goes again. When I was 17 my mom mentioned how she would like to have a round bellied teapot. At a church white elephant sale I found a really cute one and bought it for my mom. The next two times I went to a white elephant sale, I found two other very cute teapots and brought them home for my mom. She told me she really only needed one and I should keep the others. That’s how my collection started.

Right now I have about 22 of them but at one point I had close to forty. When the teapot count gets too high, I give them away or donate them. After I have gotten the number of teapots down to a reasonable number, I always find a really cute one in a garage sale, that I, of course buy. I am trying really hard to resist the urge to buy more. Is there a patch for this addiction?

Day 19 -- a talent of yours I think of myself as a "jack of all trades but master of none". The one thing I do feel is a talent (which probably isn’t) is that I’m very good with babies. In my family I’m known as the baby whisperer. ~_^

Day 16 -- a song that makes you cry (or nearly) I don’t cry at sad songs. I do cry when a song reminds me of someone who has passed. The last time a song made me cry was in church when they sang one of the hymns sung at my Dad’s funeral.

Day 15 -- a fanfic This was tough, there are so many wonderful pieces of fanfiction that I wasn’t sure what to do for this question. If I maked a list I’d probably leave a ton of fics out and insult people in the process. So instead I decided to name the last new fic I read, (at least it was new to me.)
“One Glorious Summer “By Dawnofme – It is Spuffy, of course. I loved the premises of this story, it is post “Not Fade Away,” Spike has Shanshued but he has no memories of his past life. In this fic Spike is an author and a surfer (hence the title.) Buffy sees him on a talk show, promoting his book and decides to check out the situation, to see if it's really Spike. This story is not perfect but it was a different take on Spike and I enjoyed it.

Day 15, I'm half way through! Woot!

Day 14 -- a non-fictional book “Goodbye I Love You” by Carol Lynn Pearson – It’s Carol’s story of being a young naïve Mormon who marries a gay man, Gerald Pearson. Gerald tells Carol, while they were engaged, that he had had sexual relationships with men, but had left that phase of his life behind. Mormon authorities assured the couple that marriage would turn Gerald into a heterosexual. After 12 years of marriage they separated (and eventually divorced) when Gerald felt he needed to explore his sexuality. He returned to live with her and their children after being diagnosed with AIDS, and she cared for him until his death. This book is about their life together. I read this story many years ago but I can’t forget this touching and heartbreaking story.

Day 05 -- your favorite quote – I was going to go for “Fire bad tree pretty”because I love that quote but instead I'm going to go for the more profound and meaningful "If nothing we do matters, than all that matters is what we do." These are words we should remember everyday, especially when life is getting us down and we feel cranky.

Day 04 -- your favorite book- To Kill a Mocking Bird - The innocence of the children in such a turbulent time is spellbinding. No matter how many times I read it, it's always enjoyable.

Day 03 -- your favorite television program Well this one is a totally no brainer….BtVS…of course. No television show before or after has captured my attention. BtVS just hit the 18th anniversary of the day it aired and we are still talking about the show. That’s pretty powerful.

Day 02 -- your favorite movie I’m not sure I would qualify it as my favorite (I'm not sure I have a favorite) but it’s certainly up there towards the top of the list. “The Princess Bride”
What’s not to like? Sword fights, torture, kissing , rodents of unusual size and some of the best lines, ever.
