I hope this year is a good one for everybody!

On Saturday, Hubby and I drove 150 miles to Albany, to meet up with my sibs. We spent the morning at the NYS museum and then had a nice lunch in a local neighborhood place. Except for the actual travel, it was a lovely day. We came home, in time to spend a quite New Years Eve at home. Of course, I fell asleep at 9:30, woke up in time to see the ball drop, wish hubby a happy new year and go back to sleep. Since I hate new years eve, this one was right up my alley. ~_^

Happy 2017!!!!

I have been thinking about this lj/Russian server thing and have come to the conclusion that I'm going to stay on lj. I've had a lj for 13 years and this isn't the first time there has been a mass exodus. I'm going to be prepared for what ever happens but I'm not fleeing, just yet. I'm not gong to cross post but I will copy and paste my lj entries into DW. I am more familiar with lj and I am not ready to start my posts on DW, just yet. I have already exported my lj to DW and I have also exported my icon journal, [livejournal.com profile] teragramm_icons, to DW under the same name.

So it's all good.

Well it certainly has been a busy day here at lj. Between friending people and commenting on posts, it's been a little nuts. Please excuse me, if you made a comment and I haven't answered. I have, so far, caught up on all the friending, so if some how, I haven't friended you yet, leave a comment.

All about me... I live in Queens,NY. Which is one of the boroughs of NYC. I live in a tiny attached house and have lived here for many years. I am probably quite a bit older than the majority of my flist. I just recently retired from a job I worked at for 17 years and loved. I worked for a photographer and I got to look at pretty pictures all day.

The job got me interested in PhotoShop and I love to play with all the pretty fandom pictures. Playing with PS is very relaxing for me. Although I do get teased by my kids about LJ, reading fanfiction and making fan art. (BTW, my kids are grown adults.)

I try to post at least once or twice a week and I usually ramble about my personal life or post fan art. I try my best to make comments on the posts of my flist but some days I get lazy.

Wellcome new friends!!

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] kazzy_cee made a post about the "good old days" of LJ, when reading her flist took a lot longer than it does these days. 17 people answered her post, most of them agreed that... 1.) They miss the good old days too. 2.) Their active flist has dwindled 3.) They prefer LJ over other social media sites.

The funny thing is, I noticed that out of the 17 people who responded, only about half were on my flist. Many of these people I have "seen" around for years but somehow haven't had the opportunity to friend them. My thought is.... let's change that!

So here is my Circling the Wagons Friending meme.

If you answer this post with "I'm in", there are 5 rules.

RULE 1. If you answer this post you must friend everyone else who answers this post and they should friend you back. (I will post a complete list in a week or two, just so you don't miss anyone.)

RULE 2. Being/having been, a part of the Buffy/Angel fandom is suggested but not a deal breaker. (I have some awesome friends who have never been part of fandom.)

RULE 3. After you have "met" your new friends (and given them a fair chance.) If you feel you have nothing in common with them, you are free to unfriend them, with no hard feelings.

RULE 4. You must pimp this post in your LJ, with a link to this post.(http://teragramm.livejournal.com/2016/03/05/)

RULE 5. Sometime after you have made new friends, you must post an "all about me" post, as an introduction. In this post give as much or as little info as you are comfortable giving.

So fingers crossed we can make some new friends and expand our lj family.

Way back in January, I made it a goal to hit the 800 mark with my lj posts, before the end of the year. In January I had 79 post to go before I reached 800. On Wednesday I reached 800 posts and 5 months before the end of the year. Whoot!!!

Go me!

I just realized that two days ago was my lj anniversary. I've been on lj for 11 years! Wow! It's hard to believe.

It's been a great 11 years and I am very grateful to all on my flist who have been my lifeline, support and sounding board for the past 11 years. Thank you.

I've seen a few post lately about how it can get a little complicated when you friend a new person. Just to see what everyone thinks about friending on lj I have a poll. Please pimp the poll to your friends because the more people who fill out the poll the better for results.

I thought this was important enough to repost here.

Originally posted by [livejournal.com profile] deathpixie at Signal Boost: Return of the DDoS
For those wanting to know more about the recent DDoS attacks, yes, it looks like it was the Russian government trying to shut down the dissidents again.

As I said last time, while it's frustrating not to have access, LJ is a lot more than a social network platform. From the article:

"LiveJournal isn’t just a social network. It’s also a platform for organizing civic action. Dozens of network projects and groups mobilize people to solve specific problems — from defending the rights of political prisoners to saving endangered historic architecture in Moscow."

So while I know many are considering the move over to Dreamwidth and other such sites, supporting LJ is a way we can help support those who use it for more than a writing/roleplaying/social venue.

Also, as a FYI, LJ is giving paid users effected by the outage two weeks of paid time as compensation.

I was thinking today about lj and I was looking at my flist. Very few on my flist post any more or if they do, not on a regular basis. A few have gone off to twitter or facebook and I hear about their lives that way but I don't want to make facebook or twitter my main social network. I still love lj, I love the idea of lj, I love how I don't have to put my thoughts in a certain amount of words or how I can say what I'm really thinking with out being cryptic. The thing is my flist is dwindling. I don't write fanfiction so people don't come running to my journal, I have to go out and look for new people for my flist. How do you go about making friends who have your interests and are willing to put themselves out there and not just for fandom purposes ?

Sorry about this "whoa is me" post but any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. Who is the friendliest person on your flist and would they mind me friending them?
